A sharp note can either be distinguished by the # sign on the left side of the note. If a note say for example a G sharp note is in a bar, all of the G notes in the rest of the bar will also be a sharp. The notes that are meant to be played as sharps can also be told by the key signature at the start of the music. If the # is on the D line, all D notes should be played as sharps. Really quite simple, the only thing to look out for are natural signs, which tells you to bring the note back to it's original pitch. Hope I've helped.
