A 'combo' means the amp and speaker(s) are in the same cabinet, or 'box'. A 1 x 12 combo has the amp and one 12" speaker, and a 2 x 12 has two 12" speakers. Marshall's most popular speaker cabinet is a 4 x 12............you guessed it, four 12" speakers. Rock on!

An amplifier head is just the actual amplifier. If you want to hear something, you need a speaker cabinet hooked up to it. A speaker cabinet is just a box with speakers in it. You can't hook a guitar straight into a speaker cabinet. You need an amplifier. A combo amp is an amplifier that has a speaker built-in. A "practice" amp isn't a special type or configuration of amp, it's just smaller and lower powered. They aren't intended for live gigs or anything like that, just practicing at home. If the amp didn't affect the sound, why would companies bother making different amps? Think about it.

Hi, yeah right, the first answer I mean, but if you are gonna play a lot live, without PA and monitoring, it is usually better with two 12 instead of one. Why? the sound have more "room" and also more punch, well usually they do anyway. If you are gonna use it as a garage/bedroom project, maybe one 12 is a better solution for you. I would anyhow tried them both out, because one of them will most certainly sound better in your ears! Don`t rush in man, take your time and get what suits you the best OK! 112 has one 12 inch speaker

212 has two 12 inch speakers.

the 212 will have a fuller tone

the 112 will be less expensive
