I play electric/acoustic guitar, but I hate having to play the bar chords because I suck at them. I want to try to learn bass guitar, but not if I have to play a bunch of bar chords. :(. Also, do you know any good sites to learn bass guitar online?

Well a chord is a group of notes played across a measure in music.
Guitarists strum these group of notes but can just as easily pick them one by one, on bass the lower frequencies crash when multiple notes are played together (there are exceptions) so generally bassists strike single notes at a time.
As for learning bass i advise getting lessons, bass isn't easier than guitar in the long run & is just as technical if not more so at times

Your question is subjective. Each bass player has their own difficulties to overcome. You may hear one say sight-reading is difficult. Another may say interval recognition was difficult. Finding good musicians to work with may be another. I'll tell you work on proper fingering, and intonation. Be diversified, don't settle for one style of music. Learn theory; proper use of scales, harmony, chord structure, and chord progression. Know why a certain tone will work in a song and why another will not. There are three levels of creativity; 1) copy somebody else. 2) take what is and rearrange it and/or add to it. and 3) the way to be the most successful in the creative arts, make something out of nothing. Now, go answer the question; "How am I going to make something out of nothing?" To answer the question you will have to know the process by which music is created. Theory Edit: Contrary to popular belief bass players do play chords, at least good ones do!

The bass guitar, in general, does not play chords. It'd sound pretty weird and bad.
Buy a cheap method book.
Since you play guitar, could you help with my question? https://answersrip.com/question/index?qid=20100717130021AAXShE8
P.S. But if the reason you have issues with the bar chords is that you have weak fingers, you might still have problems with bass. The strings are thicker, so you need more strength to press them down than you do for guitar strings. Still easier than bar chords, though. :-)

Bass does play chords, but they are normally only used on the higher strings because the lower ones sound really muddy.
Look up lessons on Youtube if you don't want a teacher.

Are you saying that you want to become a bassist instead of a guitarist, because of bar chords?
Or, are you saying that you want to become a multi-instrumentalist?
But, to the other answerer: Yes, you can of course play chords. As long as they're the same note and sound good.
Did you know that most failed guitarist's become failed bassist's?

Learn to enjoy the guitar from your own house or apartment with the Jamorama online course for guitar you will find it here https://tr.im/uOiju .
One of the fascinating and beneficial presenting you will discover in the Jamorama course may be the "Jam Paths ".As you feel the lessons, they offer you page audio to a tune, and then 2 music songs to accompany the song.
The very first music track could have the guitar portion inside it (so you are able to hear how it's supposed to sound), and one other sound track has got the song with the guitar eliminated (so you can enjoy with yourself!)
They organize the Jam Songs really easy to understand manner.
Jam Trails is one of the many things from Jamorama that will make learning the guitar easy also for the beginners (especially if you don't have a guitar instructor there to help you whenever you make mistakes).

there are many people out there who doubt that they have the ability to play guitar, so let me tell you right away: your hands aren’t too big or too small, you’re not too young or too old, and it doesn’t matter if you want to play electric or acoustic. Read here https://tr.im/iCWOX
Everyone has their own challenges, but I’m confident that if you practice and put your mind to it, you can play the guitar.
