i saw this letter from john lennon to waylon jennings in which the beatle writes about waylon is the only one who he finds fit to sing that song, because the beatles were too big and so was johnny cash, elvis presley, ect. but it doesn't have the title or the date on the letter, so i was wondering if there was someone out there who knew.

I have never seen the letter, but I have a Waylon Jennings box set that includes a great cover Norwegian Wood, so I assume that must the song you are talking about.

However, Both Elton John and John Lennon recorded a song together called:

"Whatever Gets You Through the Night"

Waylon and Jessi recorded a song by the same name. The lyrics are completly different, but the song structure is very similar. Have a look see.

Honky Tonk Heroes The best country album EVER made! This will turn anyone on to Waylon. It's simple but complicated at the same time. This album sounds like Waylon's playin' right in your own house with his band.

Easy one, there is a copy of the letter in Waylon's autobiography, which I have. The song John mentioned was "Tight A$" from his 1973 Mind Games album. What John actually said was, he was glad Waylon liked the song, but he didn't think anyone else should record it, meaning "Do not remake this song, Waylon!" Shame, as these are my 2 biggest musical influences, and I think this would have rocked out any of Waylon's albums from 1973-75, which was his most influential period!
