In the 50 years I've been playing drums, my favorite kick drum head combo is an Aquarian Super Kick II on the batter side matched with the a ported Aquarian Regulator on the front. Easy to tune, tons of thump and tone with just enough resonance so the bass drum doesn't sound like a muffled cardboard box. Works great miked up too.

ok anybody seems to agree that a pillow is a thank you to restoration it. i individually wouldnt call it a "stable" way, even though it would get you what youre finding for. in my opinion, the sound of the drum could be heard. how can it relatively is heard if there's a pillow in it, soaking up each and all of the sound? i propose getting a clean bass drum head. fork over around 30 dollars and p.c.. up an aquarian great kick or an evans emad. those heads are solid, consumer-friendly to music, and have a muffling ring on the interior the drum. could get you an extremely effective, deep kick sound. yet returned, in case you go with unfastened, the pillow/blanket concept will do wonderful. as for the snare, your kick drum is only making the backside head vibrate, which motives the snare wires to make some sound. no way around that, particularly, different than figuring out to purchase a greater physically powerful high quality snare, or turing the snares off thoroughly. lol.

Google 'drum tuning bible' and follow the advice in there religiously.
