how OFTEN are nylon strings supposed to detune? I understand they detune faster than steel strings but how often? do they detune after playing one song or something?

reason is I bought nylon strings for the guitar I have. but I cant even get to putting on the third string because the 1st one already is already out of tune. am I doing something wrong or is this normal?

Sounds like new strings. Right after you put them on and tune to pitch, they WILL detune severely and quickly. When I change strings, I tune each new string to pitch. Then, after they're all on, I tune them again and give each string a few pulls, tune them again, and play for a while. My guitar's electric, so it takes about a day for the strings to stretch so they'll stay in tune. It might take more or less time for you, but you have to remember that new strings need to stretch, so they won't hold a tune until they've done so.

Hi there, The problem may be the tuning knobs (a thte head of the guitar. Sometimes they are not strong enough to hold the nylon strings in tune, so you may need to get stronger ones. Hope this helps!!!

nylon strings are for classical acoustic guitars. they have a different type of head stock and bridge. to use nylon strings on a regular acoustic guitar, you would have to buy nylon strings with a ball end. A normal acoustic bridge does not have any place to tie using normal nylon strings.

New strings on all stringed instruments will go out of tune for awhile to start with. Your guitar is just "getting used to them" so to speak. Just put up with it, it should get better over time.

Hopefully. Otherwise, maybe you didn't put the strings on right.
