I've heard music has a big on people and influences decisions. Even sometimes subconsciously without us realizing it. Music provokes emotion. Today we hear "Popular music artists Jay-Z Beyonce and Rihanna being involved in Satanic worship" (Christian blog)"Rock musicians themselves have admitted to using music to seduce their fans and ppl to draw them away from God" (another christian blog) Devil wants to be worshiped and he uses these people to do it, I heard Beyounce on an interview say she becomes possessed when she is on stage and has an out of body experience. So I stay far away from any "wordly" music. But I was wondering if it's ok to listen to instrumental music with no lyrics. The original songs are not christian but I like to listen to instrumental music when I study. I don't want to find out its used in cults during bad things. I've heard if it's not actively glorifying The Lord then we shouldn't listen to it. But I'm not sure if that applies to instrumental music. Is the sounds and rhythm created in music also "bad"? Hope that makes sense.
Thanks!

I do not know why this is such a confusing issue?

I'm not making fun of you, almost all religions have a rich history of music, yet, they also have a few haters out there. We just can't hand the power over to the haters.

When My wife and I were in England, a few years ago, we were walking through one of their 1,000 year old churches. We heard this sound, of a children's choir, it sounded like 20, 30 children singing. As we round the corner we see 6, SIX children, walking along. the acoustics of the church made those 6 children sound like 30. It was so beautiful sounding. Their sound, was NOT the work of the devil.

The current spin-off church, the Episcopalians, would all be Catholics, but Henry the 8th couldn't get a divorce or an annulment. So he told all the Catholics to change to his church, or he'd kill them. (Talk about hate?) I am NOT putting down the people in England. 95% of us, just do whatever we have to do, to live day by day. It's kinda hard to worship God, if yer dead.?

Southern Baptists, really get it on. I love it. On worship day's you can hear them for blocks. I LOVE IT.

The Arabs, Persians, Turks have a wonderful history of music. It's just the militant Islamists that want to kill all musicians, singers and dancers. Again, the haters are the problem. THEY don't want anyone to feel good. To feel safe.

I'm a musician, I like good music, period. I'm not a good singer, I did not get one of the great voices, but I was blessed with a good ear. I can find/hit, a lot of the hard harmony parts, I have good "relative pitch" (don't bother looking it up, unless you are a musician)

Music is nondenominational.

The Satan Worship is just made up, by haters. I have worked with a LOT of top name artists, including hard rockers, over the years. Rock, jazz, country, blues, folk. The only one I have a problem with, is rap, and a few of the hip hoppers. Some of them project too much hate. I have no use for them, but I don't condemn all of them, for the hate that some of them live. MOST haters, don't last very long, whether they are in music, or anything else. People don't like negative attitudes.

If you live your life, by the Bible and your Conscience, (did you know that the Christians, the Jews, AND the Muslims ALL consider Abraham, to be a major prophet? We all have more in common, than we know? The main split, among the Jews, the Muslims, and the Christians, is just another big POWER STRUGGLE? Don't worry about it, or listen to the haters. Religions, countries, even cub scouts have them. Unfortunately, power struggles, are every where.

Most of the religions are based on love and virtue. It's the militant haters, that ALL religions are "infected" with.

How can you hate, on beautiful music?

"to draw them away from God""

Again, it's the few haters, that don't understand music, so they want to ruin it for everyone else?

I know this getting long, and I apologize..

What Beyonce is talking about, when she says she is "possessed", is not a bad thing.

She is not "possessed by the devil", she is possessed by the warmth the love, that good music gives.

So many people want to distort the meaning of some words, some feelings. You can be possessed by love and warmth, as well as hate. That's your decision. Possessed is just a word..

I could go on got hours.

I'll be nice and go away now, I'm tired

Christian blogs are obviously going to say all types of music are satanic except for Christian music, but in reality, if it has a positive message, Christian or not, listen to it. As long as it doesn't affect your relationship with god listen to anything you want

You can listen to whatever the hell you want, regardless of your religious affiliation.

It really irks me when I see religious people limiting themselves in ways such as this; be open-minded and try to use logic and reason instead of just believing anything people throw at you without questioning it first.

This is how the powerful control the masses, by instilling fear into them if they don't do as they are told (and this is not limited to religion). Just don't be gullible, tis all I'm saying.

I highly doubt you're going to be tempted over to Satan's 'side' or whatever by listening to ANY kind of music...

Obviously you've been brained washed at a young age, music does not cause unclean thoughts, matches do not commit arson and guns don't kill people, screw religion and live a righteous life, Jesus was just a man, men have unclean thoughts, start fires and kill people, figure that out and there may be some hope for you.

Well I listen to Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, and other bands like that occasionally. But I still love Jesus. I don't think God cares what music you listen to.

If anything you should listen to classical music. It calms the body and makes you more alert to maximize your study session

I see no harm in that
