i LOVE my electronic kit simply because: you dont have to tune them you can make up a drum kit sound they are really quiet with headphones in and you can play them through an amplifer they are easy to move around my kit is a yamaha DTXplorer

I would get a used intermediate kit, like a tama rockstar or superstar. You want a bass, snare and 2 rack and 1 floor tom, try to buy a fusion sized kit as they are easier to tune and take up less room. Buy decent cymbals, hi-hats a ride and a crash or two

I would say go for the regular drum setup: Bass, x2 mounted toms, floor tom, snare, high hat and crash/ride. Personally I would recommend Sonor/Stagg, theyre both good makes but aren't too expensive. But do make sure they have sturdy stands. As for cymbals I'd go straight for Paiste101, slightly more pricey but cheap cymbals don't last long.

But I'd recommend you go to a music store and have a go before you buy anything.

Best of Luck.

Hey! I'll be glad to help...

Well if your a beginner than you shouldn't get like a really good set. Start off with a beginner set obviously, but that doesn't mean that the company is bad because all the good companies make beginner sets. So yeah, usually a beginner set consists of: bass drum, snare drum. and 3 toms (2 tom-toms and a floor tom), and for cymbals..crash cymbal/ride cymbal/hi-hats. Also, it should have, a bass drum pedal and cymbal stands.

to get started you are best to buy a used kit for around £200 sterling I would advise on a Premier APK or XPK or a Genista(may be more expensive) or Pearl export. They are all good kits that are good enuff to take you right up to early to middle road gigging.

You should get a basic 5 piece which would include bass drum, snare drum 2 mounted toms and a floor tom Hi-hat stands cymbal stands stool and sticks. The best place is ebay without a doubt there is always decent kits there for buttons. Most of them come with cymbals but you may pay a little extra. You will need a set of hi-hat cymbals a ride cymbal and a crash cymbal.Thats it.No point in buying new as the starter kits are total rubbish and generally start falling to bits and sound **** and dont tune up very well plus they look cheap.

If you see a kit anywhere feel free to e-mail me and I can tell you whether or not it is a rip off r give any advice on drums/drumming wotsoever.
