Doesn't make a difference that you've played electric for 3 years, but does show that you're indeed serious :)

For $1000 you can get something decent from Takamine.

Maybe you can get a bargain on a 3- or 4- series Taylor (used most likely) or a cheaper model Martin (also likely used).

You're not going to get the really good stuff, which would set you back 2-3 times as much (6- and up Taylors for example).

If you have a Tanglewood dealer near you, check them out as well. Their premier line is excellent and probably the best value for money you can get, but in the US they're pretty rare.

Same with Australian brands like Maton, which can also be pretty expensive.

everyone before me speaks true, even for a grand you aint gonna get a good guitar,,,,,,z your gonna get some mediocre piece of crap you'll be dissatisfied with further on up the road,, ,, not a Takamine fan myself, i really dont care for the tone, i have two Taylors and an old Martin D12,, i paid 300 for the Martin at a garage sale, lol,, it was unplayable, but i knew what it was/is and had to babysit it for several months to bring it back,,,worth every moment:) ,,, my 714 Taylor i got for 1300 at a pawn shop, total luck out ,, the owner just wanted cash that day,,, my 814 i bought brand new,2000USD,,, and i know the store owner, by far the best deal she could me and still make a bit for herself,,,,,point being, if you look around you'll get something you will trust and love, as somebodyelse said here about marriage,,, there was no story being told out of school, its the truth,,, good hunting,,, if you have more questions please write me,,glad to offer help,,,, Phlip

Takamine is the winner if you want to spend in that range, but you should consider something better at this point, maybe a Maton(tough to find, but o-so rewarding. Their prices are excellent too. http://www.maton.com.au/about-us/distributors.html Go Martin if suddenly find the money.

BROWSE THESE GUITARS, ME TELLING YOU A SPECIFIC MODEL TO BUY IS LIKE SOMEONE LIKE SOMEONE TELLING A GUY WHAT WOMAN TO MARRY WITHOUT HIM EVER MEETING HER.(It is true!)
