Can I hook up a Keytar to a Guitar Amp? And in general, can anybody give me advice on Keytars?

I play Guitar and Piano, and I've recently decided that I'd like to save up and purchase a Keytar. Nowhere I go seems to tell me if I can hook a Keytar up to a Guitar Amp. I can't remember what model my amp is. It's a Vox, it's 30 watts (I think) and it comes with several effects. I'm wondering if these effects could interfere with the Keytar if it is indeed possible to hook it up to a Guitar amp.

I've been researching this on the internet for a few hours and realised that I'd like a Keytar that has external speakers (I read that some come with built-in speakers). Yes, I do know that you can hook up a Keytar to a Synth, but I really don't have that type of money, what with that ontop of the Keytar expenses. So I was also wondering, if it isn't possible to amplify a Keytar with a Guitar amp, and I can't afford a Synth, is there any other cheap option?

While I'm at it, where can I get a cheap Keytar (other than eBay)? I've decided I want a Roland brand, probably a Roland AX-7.

In general, I would LOVE any information anybody has to offer. I don't want to save up for this, buy it, and then find out I can't use it. If there's any other equipment I haven't mentioned that I would need, please tell me.

I would say as long as the Keytar's range doesn't go more than an octave below middle C and / or have a crazy amount of resonance, it should be fine.

FYI the AX-7 is just a MIDI controller and doesn't have any internal sounds. (You will need some kind of synth module to play with it.) If you want a less expensive wearable keyboard, you should look check out a Yamaha DX-100, Casio CZ-101, Yamaha SHS-10 (or Moog Liberation if you've got a bit more $, etc.) Generally it's going to be keytar -> synth module -> amp.
