It depends on how big the facing is. Since most metal mouthpieces have a large facing, a 2 or 2.5 is good, but for all we know, you may have bought a smaller facing. Try different strength reeds until you find which one works for you.

Garrett has quality recommendation. THe different aspect of studying it's finding out and attaining the overtone sequence. Go purchase books like Top Tones for Saxophone by way of Sigurd Rascher, Ted Nash's Study in High Harmonics, and others. These have physical games so one can support you in studying to manage your methods for attaining overtone sequence and altissimo. A personal lesson instructor is even bigger as they are able to be certain you're NOT adjusting your embouchure while running on those physical games as your embouchure is forged during. THe alterations are on your throat, tongue role, and so on.

2 or 2.5.
Personally I use 2.
