The Who vs. Pink Floyd, which one do you prefer and why?

To me these two bands are more similar than Led Zeppelin vs. Pink Floyd, so I opted to ask this question instead. However, I still may ask the LZ vs. PF question if no one else has already asked it.

Oh wow they are both amazing bands, but I would have to go with pink floyd because of their amazing musical talent, waters's vocals, and gilmores guitar work. Pink floyd's new dvd pulse has also swayed my decision. if you dont already have it............... go buy it.

its worth the money by far..........

Shoot, that's a hard question. Both of them are great bands with great music that revolutionized society. Unfortunately, both of them also have their poser fans who like them because they think they're "cool." Every time I see some guy like, "Yeah, I love The Who! My Generation, man!" or some loser who bought a Dark Side of the Moon T-Shirt at Wal-Mart I feel like puking. Anyway, Pink Floyd is a little more moody but I think more intelligent and more in depth with their music.

I guess Pink Floyd, but this is for sure a tough call. I love the Who as well. Especially great classics like Boris the spider. I'm a teacher and I taught my kindergarteners that song. It was fabulous.

I like The Who better because they aren't as depressing as Pink Floyd.

Pink Floyd is my choice...because if I spend a day listening to PF...then I hear variety and intense lyrics and instumentals.

I don't dislike the Who but I don't like all of the Who the way I like all of Pink Floyd.

Could you really compare the two?? I mean seriously they are completely different. Who's music is like a rock musical but Floyd is more epic (i think it may even be the start of mainstream electronica). at the end of the day i say ROCK ON THE FLOYD!!!

PINK FLOYD, no doubt whatsoever! Theirs was "tripping music" back in the good ole days. Everyone always goes on & on about "Dark Side of the Moon", or "The Wall" (too commercial!) - but my all-time favorite is definitely "Meddle." I'd prefer the Floyd over the Who anytime, no matter WHAT it is!!!



The Who are too overly-pretentious. They also have a radical edge that always made me uncomfortable, wondering what the hell they had to be so damn angry ABOUT!

I like both, but Pink Floyd songs seemed to attract me more for their "kinda crazy" songs (which I was in the mood for then), with deep subjects and wonderful use of instrument usage, where the Who's songs seemed good for that rebel feeling against the "establishment".

The Who had a fine sense of humour about themselves yet knew how to rock fairly well, while Floyd would just do rambling, vacuous pieces of drearyness that just went on forever.



My vote: The Who.
