I want to make music really badly, but I can't really play any instruments, but none of my friends play instruments either. I write songs a lot and recently came up with 2 killer rock and R&B songs. How do I put in the background music, like guitars, drums, and synthesizers? I have a mac and a windows pc and I can download anything I need, and I already have a good microphone. Also, I have FL Studios Producer Edition and was wondering if anyone could give me the steps to record from a USB microphone.

I make a lot of music using a digital audio workstation (DAW) called Cakewalk Sonar and using VST softsynth plugins with MIDI, which can make music. If you don't know about MIDI, I'd learn as much about it as you can. Its 'the' way of storing musical information about how to play a song, without actually storing the audio. I can recommend http://www.midi.org/aboutmidi/tut_makemusic.php for somebody starting out to learn how to use MIDI.

You say you have FL Studios Producer. That can be used with VST plugins. You can download them for free online (simply google free VST) or buy proprietary plugins (depending on your needs. I use free ones and ones i make myself). Softsynths are software synthesizers, programs which allow you to make music on your PC much like a hardware synthesizer. Of course, this will only allow you to add synthesizers and possibly a drum machine although if you can play the instruments, theres no reason why you can't record more.
