Pick up an acoustic and lock yourself in a room with it. Make sure you have water and minimal food, because if you want to play you'll be there until you're comfortable with it in your hands and can hold the strings and make sounds properly. Then learn chords.

Well, it takes a lot of practice you can't learn unless you are totally dedicated. If you love guitar that should be no problem...I would say get chord book and get learning. It's amazing how many songs you can play with just knowing like 3 or 4 chords. You'll get it. Just get someone who knows what they are doing to kinda tutor you. You're pretty much on your own.
