Question:
How much is my antique Howard Cabinet Grand upright piano worth?

Hey, so I'm wanting to sell my piano and I'm not sure how much to ask for it... I looked inside and it says "Howard Cabinet Grand, Cincinnati, Chicago", and the model number is 55789. There are dates beside some names written inside (i guess from people who tuned it?), and the earliest date I can see is '59. So since it is pretty old, it's been "loved"...the paint is chipping on the sides, the middle pedal is not working, and it needs a little tuning.

Are there any antique piano dealers in the house or someone else who knows how much it's worth?

thanks! =)

p.s. I looked on eBay already...I don't see one like mine.

I have been told by a friend and fellow dealer, that piano's, unless they are the cream of the crop (German or Steinway) and over 100 years old, are easier to sell as boat anchors than they are instruments... It is hard to get someone to buy one because they are so much money to move and maintain.

Mine is just about to turn 100. It is a Lester Baby Grand. It is actually worth thousands... I only paid $250.00 for it, but put over a thousand into it so far... and it is registered as an antique.

It is priceless to me as I love it... It is like a family member... but to someone else, probably not worth the time, money or aggrevation to purchase it, to move and tune it and bring it up to pitch and or restring and maintain it.

The value is therefore usually owner specific (what someone would be willing to pay for it) unless, like I said above, it really is the cream of the crop, top of the line, precision instrument. Then the value is more market based.

I am not so sure how much your piano should cost but I have a answer for you. If I had a piano and I wanted to sell it then I would go around like $70.00 I wouldn't make it to high like in the $200. But that is up to you. GOOD LUCK selling the piano!
