I just signed up for my last.fm account and they have this thing called scrobbler that you download and what it does is basically keeps a count of everything you listen to on itunes. I was wondering if this is safe because I have my credit card on my ipod account.

What does scrobber really do?

Scrobbler "really" does exactly what it says it does. Don't you think if a large organization like that had a program that just stole your credit card information, that people would have figured it out by now? Besides, your credit card info isn't stored in a location where scrobbler would have access to it. It's all encrypted.

It's also not called an iPod account.

It's safe I use last.fm and scrobbler it really just keep track of your song listing and artist. It doesn't bury into your personal account, if it did then it would of been shut down a while ago.

I've been using last.fm for about a year, It hasn't stolen any money from me.

Yeah it's fine - my debit card is on iTunes and it has nothing to do with the account side it merely replicates what you listen to on your ipod/pc.

I've been using it for a couple of months and it's been fine.

If you want to listen to some dodgy tracks remember to switch off the scrobbler though ;)
