im confused on how to paint my guitar red with black and white stripes, like eddie van halens, i know i can paint it black then put tape on it and paint the next part red, but where would the white come in?

Actually what Ed did was paint it black first, then tape it and do the white. He did the red AFTER that but a few years later, and even then he just taped over the previous black / white version of the guitar with some red. Ed just recently started his own company called EVH, where he enlisted the help of a guy named Chip Ellis to recreate the original "Frankenstein" red / white / black guitar. This guitar is allegedly duplicated down to the exact colors and the pattern , and details such as cigarette burns on the headstock, rust throughout, holes in the body, reflectors on the back, and they even bought a bunch of circa 1971 quarters off ebay to to drill them and attach one to the body (back by the floyd rose) to duplicate the complete guitar. They are making 300 of these limited edition models..........at $25.000.00 each one (that's right - twenty five thousand US dollars!!) go figure....
