Ska is a style of rock music developed in large part from Caribbean dance hall music and reggae mixed with an upbeat style of rock, such as punk rock. The sound of ska is characterized by the heavy use of horns and an upbeat tempo. People who talk about ska nowadays are most likely referring to third-wave ska, which is the most recent and popular variation. Some bands to try are Catch-22, Steetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, or Sublime (who are at times more straight punk than ska).

Ska is sorta like a cross between punk and jazz and awesome. Its rock but usually has lots of instrumentals (trumpet, trombone, saxophone ect) and the lyrics tend to be relatively... angsty?

I LOVEEE Streetlight Manifesto-- My favorites by them are

A Moment of Silence

Somewhere In Between

A Better Place, A Better Time

but their most popular songs are Point/Counterpoint and Keasbey Nights.

Reel Big Fish and Less than Jake are really good too. There aren't that many really big ska bands out there though, so you gotta look for them.

chic is relatively surprising, yet i visit could say that they are probable greater reggae than ska--no longer that they have not got ska impacts, purely that in particular they play greater of a jamaican style of music. i visit could say Reel massive Fish and Streetlight Manifesto. those adult men are certainly my 2 widespread ska bands in existance, and you get distinctive form between them. Streelight Manifesto has distinctive latin impression and a good combination of saxaphones for the historic past, a revolving set of horn gamers consistently offering new thought and impression for brand spanking new unique songs. Reel massive Fish, on the different hand, is going with a greater punk impression, an exciting results of desire is a chuffed result no remember what the subject of the music remember is, a form of ironic twist it relatively is amazingly relaxing. Reel massive Fish does greater advantageous than a million/2 their songs as originals, yet in addition they deliver a hefty load of covers in a form all their very own. that's additionally kinda cool in it relatively is very own way because you are able to already understand lots of their songs without ever listening to them earlier, whilst on the comparable time gaining expertise of them in a form you may in no way have imagined. After being uncovered to those you are able to truly look on the bands suggested in different solutions--and that i urge you to! yet i might strongly advise you commence here as a base factor to branch out into the various varieties and tastes of ska. It worked super for me and that i desire it does the comparable for you! desire this helped! playstation : Missionary's Downfall by using the Planet Smashers. short music, yet incredible.
