Honestly, I don't know a thing about guitars. But I really really want to learn how to play the acoustic guitar. I absolutely love acoustic songs and I think it would be cool if I learn. Now I don't have that much money, where do I start and what do I need to do?

Also, where can I go to get a good acoustic guitar? A pawn shop or what kind of store? Like I said, it can't be expensive. Plus, I will be teaching myself. So please help me out, thanks!

You should look at local guitar shops in your area, I'm sure you can google that, or places like Guitar Center.... now you should also look into accessories like a set of strings, picks, guitar tuner, and a capo... these are things you should have when you start to learn how to play guitar... when i first started teaching myself to play guitar 4 years ago I didnt know about any of these things.... anyways, these are all things you can google and find lots of info about them... now every beginner needs a tuner, nothing sounds worse than a guitar outta tune, you can find some that are fairly cheap and easy to use... guitar picks come in all different sizes, shapes, and material; they are very inexpensive and you should buy a few different types to figure what feels comfortable to you... a capo is a tool used to hold down all of the strings and raise the pitch, it is something a lot of artist use and it will come in very handy as you get better...

Now when you actually start learning, start with the strings.... the strings are EADGBE.... the first e string is the low e string, it is the thickest string, the rest of them follow... next learn about the neck and the fret board, and the inlays (little white dots on the neck) once youve learned about your guitar, start learning chords, the first chords i recommend you learning are A, Em, E, G, C, D; these are just some basic chords that you can play a handful of songs with... later as you get better try bar chords....

really you just need to do some research, thats what I did and I think I play fairly well... just simply google how to play guitar, or guitar for beginners... you can find a lot of information... also if you want video lessons try youtube, my favorite guitar teacher and the one ive learned the most from is marty shwartz's lessons on youtube..... and good luck :)

The Dean Playmate is the best beginners guitar you'll get. It's a cool guitar for only 70 bucks.

Here's some reviews for the Playmate and other good entry-level guitars.

u could go to a local music store and rent to own a guitar. they probably have a beginners book their too. renting to own would be cheaper also cuz u pay monthly.

idk where to get one. i just found mine in the attic, but once you have it just learn D, A, G and Eb... really then you can transpose anything into something that will fit into that. obviously learn the rest too but that's all you really need to start.
