I can play piano and sing. I know many different things in music but of course variation is good. So I choose guitar! It's very frustrating to start some of the chords and it hurts my fingers. Do you know any free guitar class online that is well organized (I already know Justinguitar.com, it's great). But I'm looking for website that actually explain the note placements on the guitar (similar to piano.ex: note C is the white key on the left of two black keys). May be guitar is different a little bit but I still want to know how. Many of my favorite singers can play guitar (ex: Hunter Hayes and Norah Jones)! And I want to be like them as well. And just like everybody else, I prefer to learn fast (but I understand that skills can't be improved quickly). It is unfair for one to want to play an instrument instantly while others have to practice months and years, so I don't expect the lesson to be fast but if you have any tips, please let me know. I really need help on the note placement on the guitar, all I know is the root :E A D G B E. But do guitarist actually remember all the note placements on the guitar just like piano?

Look on youtube for some quick lessons and see if the site they came from offer more. Also if you check some guitar makers(Fender or any other) they sometimes will have short sessions. Same with the bigger magazine sites. They may have short lessons or other links to guide you in the right direction

Many great guitar players have been self taught and it doesnt have to cost money. Everyone has their technique or way to transition into other chords or notes. Depending how good you want to get it can take time to get used to the different motions of changing chords or knowing where the finger placement is for a lot of notes. Many sites show a pretty good idea of how to smoothly change chords and the notes you will eventually memorize. Dont think too much into it and start basic. Meant to mention that some guitar stores sell just the neck of the guitar to carry around and practice with.

In some time experienced guitarist can name any note by visual sight. It's the matter of daily practice. Structured lessons you won't find for free. Teachers require money for their work, and for the money you can get the best learning. Use youtube as your first guide and then consider taking lessons online or with teacher. You can't learn well without correct practice approach. Usually that approach is for a fee.

The simple free basics you can find here. It's only the top of ice berg:

Ehm..

This course is even better than a personal guitar teacher http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=554

the site has thousands of videos and well explained lessons, everything is explained step by step and it's easy to follow. I haven't found any better online training course elsewhere.

you should go on youtube and type in how to play guitar or use tabs. They are very easy or you can email me and I will teach you cos I play guitar myself.
