what is a "Rubber tuning wedges or mutes" can i have a picture pls? i looke on ebay and i saw this...

i dont know which is the tool. is it just the black thing by itself or the black thing plus the gold thing???

The black wedges are called wedge mutes. The fat end of the triangle is speared by the point of the skewer, the hole in the handle is used to give you something to hold onto so you can place them between the strings to mute (silence) the sound of a string when tuning.

I'm pretty sure the mutes are just for narrowing the range of open strings while tuning in order to avoid overtones and other vibrations that might interfere with attaining an accurate note. The metal parts are just handles for removing the wedge.



To tune a piano I am fairly certain that most people use a standard tuning fork or set of tuning forks. Click the link below and then search for "tuning fork" to see what I mean.

What u R looking at is a 2 peice tool the brass bit fits into the black rubber to make a tuning wedge with handle.

the other tool is callrd a rubber wedge without handle.
