how do i make my guitar sound like a snare drum???

i watched this video where johnny cash put paper between the strings of his guitar and made it sound like a snare drum... but i tried this and it didnt work. any other tips/suggestions?

Barely Touch the strings, just enough to vibrate them off the paper, then mic your guitar (not the amp)

Sometimes to get crazy effects you need to string effects pedals together and use them all at the same time. But don't blame me if you blow out your amp because when I use my pedal's effects and then turn on my amp's in addition it gets really loud and you can barely hear what note you're playing, kind of like a live performance back in the day of the Ramones.

well you have to put it between the strings and the neck and you really can't press hard on the strings when you try to play
