Question:
Where's all the new rock?

Is it me or is everything starting to sound too much like pop? To me, rock music used to sound different (Metallica, Nirvana, Muse, Breaking Benjamin, etc.) - and it was all good! Now when I turn on the radio, I hear the same songs by these new artists - and they all sound so much like pop. Not much new (good) stuff is coming out lately. Does anyone know of somewhere I can go to hear new songs? The radio here in Cincinnati doesn't seem to be working. I've tried Pandora, but after awhile, I noticed it played the same songs. Or, if anyone can think of any new (or less known) artists, that would be great. I'm starting to get into some independent (or less known) bands, like Butterfly Effect and Forty Foot Echo. Even if you don't have any suggestions, let me know what you think (nicely if you disagree). Thanks!

I totally agree with you on the Radio here in Cincy, now that we've lost both 97X and 97.3. 94.9 is OK, but its real off and on- they play some OK stuff, but then they'll have something so pop that I almost go unconscious. I believe my best suggestion to you is to get XM or Sirius. They have some decent, commercial free underground/new stuff stations on there that you'll dig.

Some of the supergroups are pretty good: Velvet Revolver, Army Of Anyone, Audioslave, Foo Fighters.

Also, check out Canadian band Three Days Grace

i agree with you. my favorite band is breaking benjamin and they are just about all that i listen to anymore, because the new rock is more out for the money and they release a new single every other week it seems like. i am also starting to get into more local bands, or lesser known ones, such as Saosin, thousand foot krutch, anberlin, and story of the year [although they are starting to get more mainstream, like breaking benjamin].

I have my own streaming internet radio station... go to www.theboxrocks.net or myspace.com/951thebox.
