Question:
Is it possible to find out what songs Distant Worlds will play in their 02/10/2012 London show?

Basically, I am thinking of going to the Royal Albert Hall show this year but really im much more interested in the songs from the earlier games. If I was to go and hardly any of the ones I like were played it would be a bit of a let down, I'm just wondering if they ever say what songs they are going to play before hand, or whether if they are doing a kind of world tour they will play the same songs at every show?

Since this is not your average band gig they do know what they will be playing because in every country/venue they play with a local orchestra so they have to send the scores to them well in advance. I believe in London they play with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

For last year's tour they posted on the website the setlist for each show a couple of weeks before the date. I can't say they will do the same this year but do check the website closer to the show. For example, the setlist for the show on March 23 is up. Check the link down in the sources section.

The setlists doesn't usually change much between shows with just 1-5 songs being different at each venue.

Now regarding the songs themselves bear in mind that since Nobuo Uematsu is one of the guys behind this I would expect them to play the songs on Final Fantasy titles which he composed for. I don't know what you call earlier games but they usually play a few songs from FF 1 - 5, a lot of songs from FF 6 - 10 and a couple from FF 11 - 14.

If I were you I would not think twice about going. I'm an avid fan of the series and that show is in my Top 3 musical experiences I've ever had.

Most bands don't even know which songs they're going to play at a show a week from now, they just mix it up as they go. Not knowing which songs you'll hear at a gig is also part of the surprise, so even if they did know, they aren't gonna make a big announcement about it.

Usually the setlist doesn't change too much in one tour, so if you really want to know, you can look up some reviews from other gigs from the same tour. Some people include the setlist in their review, so that should give you a good idea of what songs you're going to hear.
