Hey, I got a cheap hundred dollar guitar at Walmart this past summer just to play with. (lol!) It's a First Act guitar. It's been good to start out on but, I am thinking about getting a new one. I've been taking lessons for six months now. When should I get a new one and what should I get? I don't really care about price. lol! I don't want ot buy another cheap one and six months down the road be ready for a new one again. I guess I just need some advice on what to do.

I've got a 50s fender stratocaster cause i like retro stuff - its a really great guitar and I'd really recommend it. It's not too expensive - mine was like £320, but it sounds brilliant. Fender guitars have a more crisp, clean sound and I think theyre very versatile so I'd definitely recommend any of them - especially strats.

If you want something with a really thick sound then go for a Gibson - theyre a lot more expensive and i havnt got one but Ive heard theyre overpriced for what they are - but really les pauls are said to be fantastic.

see what bands and artists you like and see what guitars they play, that way you can get their sound if thats the kind of music you want to play

thanks!

and always make sure you try a guitar before you buy one - go to a music shop and ask to try some out, if youre really stuck you could ask what would be best for you and your price range. Just see which one you like playing most!

Think about what type of music you want to play. Fender Strats are made for blues. If want to play hard rock I suggest a Les Paul. Metal, get an ESP or a Jackson. Telecasters are good for blues and country.
