I am a singer/songwriter and guitarist. I have 10 complete original songs that I am getting ready to record as a demo. (I even have the bass and drum tracks written, Being a drummer and bass player as well.) All I need now is a bass player and drummer so we can play out.

My question to you is how do I find musicians to help me form my band? I have posted classifieds on myspace and craigslist with no luck. I have also posted flyers around town with no luck. Would recording a demo for a manager or record label to listen to be a good idea? Could they help me find musicians?

When starting a band you want similar minded people to share with. Also think hard about what instruments you want to be involved with. Realize great bands are more about how individuals fit together then it is about each individual's skill. Need to fill a position within your current band go out and meet new people. Talk to friends, classmates, and family they might know someone just right for your band. Bulletin boards at the local schools and local weeklies are great places to advertise for new members. When running these types of ads you want to make sure you have as much information listed as possible. This will cost a bit more but you will get a higher quality response.

Just how detailed are you going with your ads?

Are you also looking at ads that others post? sometimes an artist like a bassist will post an ad looking for a band, you can contact them maybe you can work better together.

Now the end of your question yes a manager, label, or even studio can help you out if you have a demo for them to listen to for comparison.

It would be great if you got a demo done up. In fact if it is 10 songs and of good quality you can get it listed on Itunes and more through CDbaby.net. Even if you don't want to do that you can still sell it http://blog.timelineonline.org/2008/09/put-your-demo-up-for-sale.html

unless ur signing on as a solo artist they probably wont sign you without the other band members... try going to local battle of the bands and make friends with the band members... bands break up all the time and so if they know you're looking the guys might hit you up when they get free

you dont say your age? myself -- going to local haunts, open stages, and just sitting and playing in a public place has worked,, you'll meet some good and some bad, some there to have at others and those who are in ,, some to project they're own ideas and a few willing to share,, it is quite the adventure and if your of age,,, go to see the locals and meet the band and them who came to see,, sooner or later you'll meet somebody(s) who is
