Did Oasis split in 96 during their US tour?

Question

In 1996 I was lucky enough to see Oasis at their second Jones Beach concert during their US tour.

I stayed with relatives in NY for a week afterwards and heard rumours that Oasis had split. I asked my family back here in Liverpool to save all the papers for me so I could find out what was going on, and as families do, they 'forgot'.

Can anyone tell me what went on?

I remember that, but think the brothers just had an argument and one packed their bags and came home. I forget which one did which, but I do remember hearing about it. Sorry I can't clear it up any further for you.

The time when Noel left the band, met a girl (called Lyndsey Salley) and wrote Talk Tonight (& also Its Good To Be Free & Half The World Away) was in October 1994.



They 'split' during a tour of US in September 1996, when Noel actually flew home to London. They didnt play a live gig together as a band after that until June 1997. They did, however start recording Be Here Now inbetween.

They just did a World Tour in 2005. In 2006, Oasis released a greatest hits double album entitled Stop the Clocks.



As far as I know they are still somewhat together.

To a certain extent, Noel took a 'short break'.

Noel did walk out on the tour, becuase he had growing tentions with his brother, and in an interview with frank skinnner, he exclaimed they had a pitty argument about shoes, and he just had had enough, and didn't want to be in any band.

He went to las vegas by plane, and this is where he wrote the song talk tonight, which he claims is about how he met a girl in vegas who talked to him about the band, and that he would be silly to give it all up; as he says "i have the best job in the world". In a small amount of time Noel returned to the Band.

.No, noel got fed up with liam after an argument and walked off the tour, soon after they reunited for MTV's unplugged, but they never officially split up.
