Do you listen to internet radio? What's your opinion on the govt tripling fees (which may kill internet radio)?

I am an avid listener of AOLradio.com. The music keeps me a happy worker as I sit in a chair for four hours or more at a time. I also discover artists that are not played on my local stations. In my opinion, the internet radio should remain free.

Below is a quote from the website: http://www.savenetradio.org

"The future of Internet radio is in immediate danger. The Copyright Royalty Board in Washington, DC has more than tripled the royalty rates for webcasters and left unchanged they will kill Internet radio. These exorbitant rates go into effect on May 15 (retroactive to Jan 1, 2006!). Without Congressional action the majority of webcasters will go bankrupt and silent on this date. We need your help. Please take a moment to send a letter to your member of Congress to keep Net radio from being silenced."

I'm getting the same message from Pandora.com. I'm so sad about this. Regular radio is so manipulated by whoever has the most money to pay the stations to play their music. Only big labels get played. Independant artists can't afford it. The heart of true music as art is dying. We are left with commercial mediocrity.

Funny you asked this. I just wrote to my public officials regarding this matter. I love internet radio. I listen to it 10 hours a day. Listening right now actually. :o)

I listen to Christmas music all year long (I know, I'm weird). It makes me happy. Internet radio is the only place I can do this. live365 happens to be my internet radio choice and I dont know how I will survive my 10 hour day at the desk without it.

in line with risk in case you extra some thing else on on your website to do jointly as they listened on your radio. My cousin did a non-expert information superhighway radio/music streaming website the place human beings would desire to hearken to hint and information, proportion video clips and photos and meet human beings. It replaced into in maximum cases music in spite of the indisputable fact that. regrettably she stopped buying the information superhighway website after around 3000 human beings signed up. in case you do. Use myspace, facebook, twitter and websites like the for promote ment. 5000+ visitors in 2 months is large!
