I want to transfer my music collection to my mp3 player and am looking for the fastest way do remove copyright protection, does doing it in mp3/data cd/dvd remove copyright protection so I can put it on my mp3 player or do I have to use cd audio only? also does anyone know what the message 'unknown error occurred(4450)' mean when burning cd audio with iTunes and if there is an unsuccessful burn attempt does it still count towards my 7 burns per track count

Yes, you need to burn an audio CD, and import them again. A data CD is not supposed to change the format of your files.

You could re-use the same CD-RW, if do not want to keep the audio CD's. Or you could use a disk image (which will be to fastest conversion) if you do not want any CD's at all.

Burning the tracks as MP3s does not remove copyright protection. Burning them as audio files does so you shouldn't have any problems.

all you do is make a clean playlist on your itunes and positioned the songs you elect to burn on it. then circulate to the playlist, positioned a clean cd on your pc and press the burn cd button.
