What band in popular music has released the most albums?

Question

I am not asking which band has sold the most albums. Rather, I am wondering which band has released the most studio albums. This would not include compilations or live albums, as some bands would have more of those then they have studio albums.

I have heard that the German band, Tangerine Dream, has more than 100 albums, again, not including compilations. But I am not sure if this is the record for number of studio released.

Does anyone know?

Actually, the Beatles only released about 20 albums. Same with Pink Floyd and the Who. U2 (an Irish band) released even less. Chicago released more - over 30 - and the Rolling Stones have done about 40. Elvis has over 70, but most are compilations after he died.



You're right about Tangerine Dream. They have tons of albums. I didn't know they'd done so much. The only one I have is Phaedra.

Rolling Stones has released 55 albums, AC/DC has 20 studio albums, but if you want to include single artists, Elvis

Presley released 76.......Rush has 18 released studio albums and Queen has 15 I believe.....

Guitarist Denis taaffe has completed and released 196 albums /CD's since his debut CD in 1999. Each album is instrumental & over 60 minute long.He also completed and released 76 in on year (2006). he has a website dtguitar.com .he is still putting out 10-20 albums a year so he will be over 200 soon.

I would have to agree w/the other poster - U2 has thrown quite a few out there - so have the Rolling Stones...

tangerine dream isnt really a band.

The beatles have the most.

U2 is not an american band they're from ireland
