Question:
My first gig, where is the best place to be?

I've just booked tickets for me and some friends to go and see Alter Bridge live in november, in the newcastle metro radio arena. I'm really excited as I love the band and also its going to be the first gig/concert I've been to. The only thing Im not really sure about is where to be during the gig. Our tickets are for "Floor Standing" so I'm going to be in amongst the massive crowd but I have a few concerns. I've been told that standing is the best because you can get involved, jump around and enjoy yourself, which sounds good to me, however can you actually get a clear view of the stage when you are standing at a gig? I'm fairly short and I have a feeling I will not be at the very front but probably more to the back or the middle, is this going to effect my first gig experience or will I be able to see the stage?

Also, if the band are any good [i'll refrain from commenting], then hearing the performance is as/more important than seeing it.

So make sure wherever you stand you're in the middle between the speakers. Probably worth dropping back towards the mixing desk as well, since that's where the sound will have been balanced from.

If you're over to one side or the other, you'll be swamped by either the left or the right channel, and miss out on the stereophonic experience...

HAHA sucks for you I can't tell you how many times it sucks to try to find a good spot.

If your'e that concerned about it, I would go early just to get a good spot in the front.

BTW, get all your drinks and bathroom breaks before the show. Wear comfortable shoes. Or shoes that make you taller.

Try and get to the barrier :) You can always drop back into the crowd if you don't like it at the very front? The barrier is the best place to be in my opinion. Have fun!

you're not going to see much... but that's not important so long as you have a good time
