Question:
Music suggestions for me?

I am a big fan of music. I also like a fairly wide variety. Though, I'm not really into the newer mainstream stuff. I despise rap (no offense meant) and the rock which is labeled "emo" (again, no offense meant). Here is a list of the musicians on my iTunes library. However, this list doesn't even compare to the bands/artists in my CD collection. But, if there is a band or artist that you think I may not have and think I would like, please say so! Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Quite a variety, indeed. Here's a few you may not have tried:

Adrian Belew

Aqualung (not the Jethro Tull song, the band. Which, strangely enough, really isn't a band, but more a solo artist. But I digress...)

Auf Derr Maur (which really IS a band, but is named after the lead singer....ok, I'll stop...)

Bettie Serveert

The Bobs (REALLY good a capella group.)

The Breeders

Earlimart

The Green & Yellow TV (yes, that's the name of the band.)

Heather Duby (wonderful singer from Seattle)

Kate Bush (You HAVE to have Kate Bush!)

Leigh Nash

Los Straitjackets (Care for some surf rock?)

Mike Doughty (Lead singer of Soul Coughing)

Minus The Bear

Oingo Boingo (Get "Dead Man's Party", if nothing else.)

Puracane (Things You Should Leave Alone - Great CD!)

Talk Talk (One of those bands you'll probably either love or hate.)

Utopia (if you like Todd Rundgren, there's a good chance you'll like his band. Personally, I like the 80's version of Utopia, but the 70's stuff is pretty darn good, too.)

That's a great list! It looks alot like mine. Here are some possible additions:

Badfinger

David Grisman (if you don't mind instrumental)

Jerry Garcia (solo stuff)

Alison Krauss & Union Station

The Indigo Girls

The Honeydogs

Erin McKeown (a hidden gem!)

Steve Howe (more instrumental- the guitar player for Yes- he's amazing)

Tori Amos

and here's 5 more (edit) that come to mind:

Suzanne Vega

Crash Test Dummies

Jack Johnson

Ellis Paul

David Gilmour (Pink Floyd's guitarist & shared vocalist)

with a musical taste like that, you could go for 3 years and not discover another band and still not get bored. explore Aerosmith beyond "Walk This Way," "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing," and "Dream On" please. Here's a list of some their not-so-well-known songs "Chip Away The Stone" "Lightning Strikes" "Jailbait" "Make It" "Kings and Queens" "One Way Street" "Nobody's Fault" "Uncle Salty" "Seasons Of Wither" "Don't Get Mad Get Even" "Adam's Apple" "F.I.N.E." "Shut Up And Dance" "My Fist Your Face" "Permanent Vacation" "The Reason A Dog" "What Kind Of Love Are You On" "Toys In The Attic" "You See Me Crying" "Lord Of The Thighs" "S.O.S. (Too Bad)" you can do the same thing with The Beatles, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and almost everything on your list. I'm just a huge Aerosmith fan, so I know these songs off the top of my head. I know Led Zeppelin has many, many song. just explore what you already have in more deapth.
