without a doubt: buy a bunker.

Bunker Guitars are insanely underpriced. And I have seriously never in my life heard anything as good.

They have this patented "tension free neck" which gives them unparallelled sustain, tone, ease of play, ease of tuning... not to mention the lifetime warrantee.

They are so cheap partly because they are not known too well, and partly becasue they sell factory direct, rather than through dealers. you call the number on the website and you go straight to dave bunker who is helpful and friendly and makes the guitars himself.

at the very least check out the site and give him a call. if nothing else you'll learn something about guitars.

oh and yes, they have beginner models. I love my MVP mag, which costs a little more, but i've played the classsic '57 which is what the fender strat wishes it were. it's cheap and entry level but comes loaded with options. try that one. the Treker Classic '57 from Bunker Guitars.

when I started out, I borrowed a Vantage Ghost (Les Paul copy) from my friend, then later bought a Fender Mexican Made Stratocaster.

both are very reliable guitars for the price. I payed around $500 for the Stratocaster, and it was WELL worth it. it stays in tune very well, the quality of how well instrument was made is excellent. its sounds great. My friend payed about the same price for his Vantage guitar, it was also an excellent Guitar for the price. very reliable and stays in tune well. the two humbuckers made it sound so full and rich

Well, well, your guitar teacher is here...

Buy a Fender Strat (copy) These days you can buy a 'starter kit' guitar, amp, strings, dvd, lead, plecky, chord book all for £150 or less. Trust me coz I know!!! I have 5 guitars and have been playing for 54+ years. The Les Paul guitar like the strat is a must for everybody.
