Probably Bonham, if I had to pick between the two; however, the best drummer I ever heard in person, and on records or tapes, was Joe Morollo of the Dave Brubeck Quartet. I witnessed his work, and a half hour solo, at Shady Grove Music Fare, in Rockvale, Maryland back in 1963 in a huge tent. It rained so hard about half way through the jazz concert, that none of the instruments could be heard except Morollo's drums. So he improvised a half hour solo until the rain subsided. I watched him stop with his drumming with his right hand, for a minute or so, while he wiped his face and head with a towell because of the humidity--and the drumming never stopped! If you weren't noticing he was only using one hand, and just listening, you wouldn't have heard much difference. If you have never heard of Joe Morollo, or especially the Dave Brubeck Quartet, and you have the slightest interest in jazz, then purchase "Take Five" or any album by Brubeck that has Morollo on there too--and enjoy a listening experience!

Ringo was a better singer that John B...although I can't say for sure how well John B sang. Ringo has a more a straightforward style I agree with above. See the drum solo in the LZ movie...I love Ringo, too.

I like Ringo but I definitely think Bonham was definitely the better of the two. Everything from that killer bass foot, to his using timpanies in his solos, to playing with four sticks, and playing with his hands...that's what made him the better!

Bonham, hands down. Ringo was subpar as far as skill goes.

For the Beatles style, Ringo by a landslide, that's why they stuck with him

I'd have to go with Ringo - have heard a lot of his work from my relatives CDs.

John Bonham, IMO. Dude played with power, and also had incredible timing...

this is a choice from h*ll! I like both men and their respective bands, but I'm power-oriented when it comes to classic rock so I'd give the edge to Bonham.
ps-amongst my collection I've got a copy of Zep's first live soundboard recording (it's called "Listen To This, Luis"-from a San Francisco club gig on January 11th, 1969-roughly 2 weeks before the release of their first album). They play a 45-minute set: 'I can't quit you', 'dazed', 'you shook me' and 'how many more times'. Put this on cassette, and filled it with first album outtakes (sept. 20-oct. 10, 1968) from a cd called "Olympic Gold": 'babe i'm gonna leave you' / take #8 and 'baby please come home' (tribute to Bert Berns)/ takes 1-3.
