OH Yes !

They have no nazi connections, they were called Warsaw before becoming J.D the only connection is that Hitler had a " Joy Division " thats all! Ian Curtis was the songwriter of his generation ! " When routine bites hard, and ambitions are low, when resentment rides high, but emotions wont show, and we're changin ways, taking different roads" love will tear us apart !! genius love song !!

Love Joy Division and New Order. Got into New Order in 1987 when substance came out. Absolutely feel in love with that album and the band. With the first paycheck I ever made from my very first job I went out and bought all three Joy Division albums on cassette. Can say I honestly found them very hard to listen to. They definitely have a different sound as everybody knows. For years I never liked Joy Division. Found the music too hard to listen to. Loved New Order. I can say that in the last 8 years or so I come to appreciate Joy Division and I am actually really into them now. It was definately a process.

Joy Division are still my favourtie band. I was lucky enough to see New Order at the end of October in what could be their last concert on British soil. I prefer JD to NO but that's not to say New Order haven't been fantastic, especially Temptation, Age Of Consent, Regret, 1963. My favourite JD tracks are Twenty Four Hours, Atmosphere, Love Will Tear Us Apart.

The Nazi connection is a bit tenuous - the name Joy Division was taken from a novel rather than a real thing. The name New Order was one of a few they could have gone for after the death of Curtis, and they claim to be ignorant of it's connection.

RIP Ian Curtis

PS anyone who thinks Joy Division are depressing is missing the point a bit

For New order get the new[2005] singles collection cheap on amazon. Lowlife from 1985 get that too. The singles collection has original single mixes never available before.

For Joy Division you need Closer and Unknown Pleasures. Fantastic. But you'll also need Substance which is a compilation that picks up the singles. It's all quite inexpensive. Get them now.

Yeah, I like 'em both. I like New Order more than Joy Division though. I like Electronic and The Other Two as well.

Blue Monday is my favourite tune ever.and True Faith is good as well.Blue Monday is a massive house tune.and it was made about 3 or 4 years before house music was even invented.its pioneering.theres a good mash up of it with Depeche Mode.its called I Feel Loved On A Blue Monday (James Zabiela remix).class tune.

Their influence is massive.especially on creating the Manchester scene of the mid to late 80s.they played a big part in that which obviously The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays continued.

I do - but apparently both of these names have connections with Hitler & the nazis.

Joy Dvision - was I think where he had prostitutes to service his army & New Order was obviously his plans for White Supremacy.

Love Will Tear Us Apart - an absolutely brilliant song if you can fathom the words & New Order's Blue Monday one of the greatest selling singles of all time.
