marching band drama?

in our marching band there is so much drama and talking on the feild and people getting out of line,i'm sure NO other marching band has as much drama as SGP(texas). if any of you are in highschool marching band,how do your ppractices go and what is the enviromnent,and how do people get along?

OH yeah... a lot of drama in field band... especially in the color guard. A bunch of people in guard quit this year because of it. I'm surprised... most of the veterans quit... and the guard consisted of mostly all rookies and we did better than last year.



I quit this year, too, because I got sick of it.

In our band most people usually get along and even if they dont they know that they have to put aside their differences for the duration of practice. If we do have a bad rehersal our director usually pulls us aside from the staff and gives us a quick lecture. When there is a problem with a certain person (which rarely happens) they are usually kicked out of the band.

Okay...this is back in the day! And I mean 93-97...yeah a long time ago! anyway, if anything like what you said went on in one of my practices, the band directors made them look like idiots, would put them on the spot to do something they know they can't do, tell them play something without the music (normally this is when we were just learning the song), or anything else to embarrass the heck out of them. Believe me, the kids in my class did not mess around. Normally the ones who misbehaved were the freshmen who didn't know any better.

I'm not into instrumental music, I'm into vocal music, but some of my friends are in marching band.



They get along great: they talk, they kid around, etc.

They get along so well because music supposes to bring people together.
