I have the sheet music for this song on the piano, and it's about twice as long as the version by the Mamas and Papas.

Here are the lyrics:

We meet at evening time, tis sweet at evening time,
to know I'll spend an hour or two just with you.
Then when the hour grows late; I love to hesitate,
The moments seem so fleeting, while I am here repeating.

I stand and say "Goodnight" It's grand to say "Goodnight",
then stay and say it o'er and o'er, by your door.
The milkman hurries by, but sweetheart here am I,
Again I fondly hold you, repeating all I've told you.

CHORUS
Stars shining bright above you, night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singing in th esycamore tree, "Dream a little dream of me".
Say "nightie night" and kiss me, just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me;
While I'm alone and blue as can be, dream a little dream of me.

Stars fading but I linger on dear, still craving your kiss,
I'm longing to linger till dawn dear, just saying this.
Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you, sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you,
But in your dreams whatever they be, dream a little dream of me.

All versions I find omit the first two bits here and only start at "Stars shining bright above you". Who sings this version? Where can I listen to it?

Never heard any other lyrics than the "short" one. Doris Day, Louis Armstrong, Mamas and Papas ... they all have the same lyrics and song structure. Here's even a version from 1931 by Wayne King http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keFkJ9HDHlQ - same thing (the vocals come at the end of the tune).

An orchestra like this would probably play the original version, don't you think? In any case, it is not possible to tell what kind of thing you've got :-)

The two fist couplets seems to have a totally different meter.

The only full version like this that I have found thus far is the intro song to the Dream Team Performed by Bill Goffi. I can't find it anywhere except from the movie. Have you?

>> Driing a car in our dreams can mean the personal direction in which we are 'driving' our life... >> Maybe there is a situation of your life that needs to be slowed down, or 'put the brakes on' so to say. A situation that you feel is running out of your control? The car going in reverse could be telling you to back up a bit on certain aspects of your life. Ciao!
