I'm searching for a new acoustic guitar from either Fender, Ibanez or some other brand that you recommend. What are the guitars that you recommend for me from that brand with my budget of $500?

go to a store and keep playing guitars.

take your time, enjoy playing the ones you find, and what you will discover , is the guitar you like.

$500 is a good budget for a very decent guitar.

there are many choices, names mean nothing.

you are looking for some very basic things (IMO)

good binding at all the seams (that's usually covered edges)

good woods (different woods will make different sounds, so relax AND ENJOY THE SOUNDS OF ALL OF THEM, AND THEN CHOOSE)

and good action

play every guitar you can reach in the store...GL

A standard Martin DX-1 with a cutaway is a great choice. You should be able to pick one up for around £500. Before handing over any money however make sure you play the guitar you're going to end up taking home. The quality of the DX-1's varies quite a lot. When I was in the market to purchase one I phoned around a number of local music shops. They all said the same thing: "come down and I'll sort you a good one out". After playing a couple of different one's it was very easy to see just how much the quality can vary between them. If you can push to £560, and don't mind not having a cutaway, the best guitar you will find is a Martin DX-1 Westide Custom Special Edition. I ended up taking one of those home instead of the standard DX-1 because it had an edge that I hadn't heard in any other guitar. The special editions are VERY rare though. I was incredibly lucky to walk out with one as the guitar was causing quite a stir in my local branch of Professional Music Tech. I've played on many acoustic guitars - including £3,500 Gibson's and Taylor's - but the Martin DX-1 Westside Custom Edition is the best. Well worth having a look at it and seeing what you think, if you can find one.

Alvarez makes a pretty good acoustic for the money. I would check out acoustic guitar magazine and see if they have some reviews, or go to a guitar store and try out a bunch of different ones. Your fingers and ears will tell you which one to buy. I've played some inexpensive Fenders that were pretty good, also Epiphone. You might have to pay a little more then $500 for a bottom of the line Taylor.

Save your money and buy your dream guitar. I'm sure there are lots of decent guitars out there for under $500 but time will show their shortcomings. I know that my cheap $400 Ibanez that I bought 12 years ago was great for me at the time but now I wish I had bought the Larrive'e that I fell in love with when I played it at a local shop for the paltry sum of $1100. Remember this: You get what you pay for.

Don't judge by brand, go into some guitar shops and test some out to see

which one's you prefer!

And I do no reccomend fenders. I have 3 (acoustic, electric and bass) and have

come to realize there not great guitars, I mean there decent, but there more for

begginers.

Ibanez. Mine was my first guitar, it cost 200 dollars right now (they still make that model!) and I got it 5 years ago. Still looks and sounds brand new.

P.S. I hated the strings that came with it. So get some new strings.
