Well, at school I've never been the most talented musician and I've started teaching myself piano so I can at least stop having to sing (despite being told I'm a good singer). All I want to know is, how can I learn to play piano by ear? My dream has always been to join a band with my friends but I've never been really accepted cause I can't play an instrument. Well, I can but it takes me ages to learn a song. Help??!

Most of the time, from what I've seen, is your either born with it or not. Some people will never need lessons because they can hear a song and play it. That wasn't the case for me D: For some reason, I don't know why, even the simplest songs I can't figure out on piano..oh well

Anyway, if your having a hard time learning by ear, it just might be one of those things that only a few people can do. I would just say start learning your chords before anything else and figure out what notes sound good together. I don't think it would be too bad of a thing to get some lessons? Either way, I think it takes a long time to learn how to play by ear and to learn to read sheet music.

I've been working with the course for about a week now, and it's incredible. Just the practice aids and the different scales and memory techniques in Book 9 are worth the price of the course, alone! There are two things that make this course stand out. First, all the video and audio files are embedded in the lesson. I have yet to find another piano course that makes it this easy. It's so nice not to have three files going at the same time!

The second thing is that you actually get to play in each lesson! And the songs are not "Mary had a Little Lamb" types! From the Beatles to Bethoven, it's all there. I have several piano courses that I have ordered over the internet. This is the one I use because it makes learning fun! I'm amazed! Once you get the rhythms down, you really can sound like a pro! Great fun! Thanks for making this available at such a reasonable price. Anyone who doesn't grab this up is going to go the long way home! Joy!

Music is something that comes from the depths of our hearts. Don't force yourself too much

If you take ages to learn a song, try to learn it with your heart. Listen to it carefully with your heart, find the meaning of the song, then play it gently.

Familiarize yourself with tone. Like, when you play C on piano, keep pressing it. till you remember how the C sounds like. and so on for the other notes.

Keep practicing, nothing is impossible if we try.

You can learn to play by ear. That goes along with learning by the chord system, which is a much easier way to learn.

I took traditional lessons but didn't really "get it" until I learned by chords and learned by ear with that as well.

A great resource to learn by chords and by ear is : www.easilylearnpiano.com

Easy on the budget and not as expensive as piano lessons.
